space and composition :
In this scene Gil pushes Georgia and gets really close to her to make him self seem much more intimidating and then we see Gil push Georgia to floor, which shows the shift of power perfectly because now Georgia is on the floor which is low level , because she is weak and venerable right now and Gil is still standing because he now has a strong position of power. After this Georgias kids Austin and Georgia come rushing down to help their mum and they see her hurt, instantly they rush towards Georgias side and there is huge gap between between Gild and the rest of the family , this is both a metaphoric gap between them and a physically on e, because after seeing his true side none of the family wants nothing to do with him, so now they are divided and separated, and the closer gil moves towards them the more they back away, meaning the relationship cannot be fixed.
sound
To add more excitement and drama to the scene there is a background song, that starts quite quiet in the beginning , and then when gil and georgia start their fight the music becomes progressively louder and louder the more violent he becomes which adds a lot more drama to the scene, and the sounds of when Georgia gets hurt are really loud to really emphasis how much he is hurting her , for example when he is slamming the knife out of her hand , the thumps are very loud against the table and when she crashes into the wall and the vase breaks, that really shows the audience how much she is getting hurt because of the loud impact noises. and then after gil gets shot and georgia gets the gun the music gets quieter , because now the situation is more calm and she is safer now , however when gil becomes closer , georgia says 'i have the gun now so we're all gonna listen to me'' and the music stops for a moment and then becomes really loud which adds a lot of drama because it now emphasises that she is the one with the power now.
